The Jubilee year 2000 represents an important milestone in the history of humanity. It is the last year of the twentieth century, and at the same time, the last year of the second millennium. It is also a “magic year” in which all the numbers of the date change.  
The Christian world is about to celebrate this unique anniversary above all as the two thousandth anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ. His message of sacrifice and love is still relevant and its universal human content addresses not only Christians, bud also members of other religions and people without religion. this idea is symbolized by the depiction of Christ, which is the main motif on the reverze of the commemorative coin.  
The turn of the millennium also offers the possibility to recall the historical milestones in the history of nations and of all humanity. This is expressed on the obverse of the coin, where the personalities and attributes of decisive events in the history of Slovakia, up to the creation of the independent state, are placed on the wings of the goddess Niké, with the Latin inscription QUID DURAT VINCIT” (Who perseveres triumphs).  
The end of the second and the threshold of the third millennium is also an opportunity for thinking about the future, which will be significantly influenced by the spiritual and cultural level of humanity, and the potential for mutual aid, cooperation, understanding and tolerance.

Das Jubiläumsjahr 2000 stellt einen bedeutenden zeitlichen Meilenstein in der Menschheitsgeschichte dar. Es ist das letzte Jahr des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts und zugleich des zweiten Jahrtausends sowie das „magische Jahr“, in dem sich alle Ziffern der Zeitrechnung ändern. Die christliche Welt schickt sich an, dieses Unikate Jubiläum vor allem als die 2000. Wiederkehr der Geburt Jesu Christi zu feiern. Seine Botschaft des Opfers und der Liebe ist ständig aktuell und spricht mit ihrem allgemeinmenschlichen Inhalt nicht nur Christen, sondern auch Angehörigen anderer Religionen und Menschen ohne Bekenntnis an. Diese Gedanken versinnbildlicht die Darstellung Christi, die das Hauptmotiv der Rückseite der Gedenkmünze ist. Die Jahrtausendwende bietet auch die Möglichkeit, die historischen Meilensteine in der Geschichte der Völker und der ganzen Menschheit in Erinnerung zu rufen, was die Vorderseite der Münze ausdrückt. Hier sind auf den Flügeln der Göttin Nike Persönlichkeiten und Attribute entscheidender Geschichtsereignisse von gebiet der Slowakei bis zu ihrem Aufstieg zur eigenen Staatlichkeit dargestellt, mit der lateinischen Inschrift „QUID DURAT VINCIT“ (Beharrlichkeit führt zum Ziel).

Das Ende des zweiten und die Schwelle des dritten Jahrtausends ist auch eine Gelegenheit über die Zukunft nachzudenken, die in hohem Masse durch das geistige und kulturelle Niveau der Menschheit, ihre Fähigkeit der gegenseitigen Hilfe, Zusammenarbeit, Toleranz und des Verständnisses beeinflusst wird.
